On the arid, central coast of Peru, 20 miles south of Lima, stand the ruins of Pachacamac, the temple of "the one that give life to the world."  These ruins were occupied for nearly 5,000 years by numerous cultures, culminating with the Incas.  Through the millennia the site accumulated numerous walls, terraces, courtyards, cemeteries, buildings, and rubbish; reminders of its ancient inhabitants.
